Last Wednesday was special because
it was my boss's birthday and everyone anticipate it. lt was like a ritual to celebrate his birthday. His birthday meant free lunch, Many halted their work and started the countdown as the time drew nearer. When it rates twelve sharp, the excitement and the noise was unbearable. Loud chatter was heard in every corner of the room. This indicated the lunch break.
When I g.ot the first floor,
others had already there, talking with others while waiting for our boss'
coming to celebrate his birthday. I walked among the crowd and stood near the birthday cake. When my boss came, we sang the birthday song. After cutting the cake, he gave a short speech, but it wasn't short enough because everyone was busy with themselves before the speech was over. When the speech was done, everyone rushed to the table.
The meal was a buffet lunch with
varieties of dishes to accompany rice, like grilled fish, smoked beef and corn soup. For the dessert, we have ice cream and local cakes which were crowded with some groups of workmates. After getting all I wanted, I went to a group, chatting and enjoying the delicious treat. The menu of the buffet became one of the topics. We totally agreed that the menu for the next birthday should be changed because it was the same for year to year.
After satisfying our appetite, we
got back to work. I hope there will be another tasty lunch for the next
birthday.

boat ride. As soon as we reached there, we had our lunch near the seashore.
Then, my father hired a motorboat. We hired a boatman to steer the boat.
The boat was not a big one. it was only enough for five persons. we got into the boat and the man steered it into the sea. The water was calm and the journey was smooth. I sat in front of the man.
When we got further and further
away from the shore, the sea became rough. Our boat started tossing from side to side. Huge waves splashed on both sides of the boat. I became a little worried. The boatman calmed me and assured me that we were in safe waters. I
believed him and composed me.

and big boats in the sea. Some were fishing boats. We went closer to a
fishing boat. I was fascinated to see fishermen casting their net into the sea and hauling the nets into their boats.

we decided to turn back. My father took some photographs of the sea and the boats.

every day, a large number of commuters depend on it to go to their workplace.
lt was a great time for me to ride it.
My mother and I took the district line from
Kensington to Westminster. We boarded the train at the West Kensington station. The route of The Tube was underground. Nothing much could be seen except darkness on both sides.
The Tube was moving at an incredibly fast speed. The
train coaches were vibrating as it was going very fast. We passed six
stations, Earl's Court, Gloucester Road, South Kensington, Sloane Square, Victoria and
St. James'Park. The stations were all brightly lit and immaculately clean.
Warning posters could be seen everywhere. The commuters were reminded that no food or drinks were allowed in the station or trains. These regulations are necessary and good for the proper maintenance of the place.
The ride was comfortable, interesting and enjoyable.
Above all it was hassle-free. There were no traffic lights and no traffic jams. We got off the train at Westminster station, looking fresh. A bus ride from Kensington to Westminster would have taken at least 45 minutes or more. The Tube, it took us only fifteen minutes.

sensation. My lips were dry and my whole body ached. I had no appetite.
My parents rushed me to our family
doctor. The doctor examined me and prescribed a course of medicines including
anti-biotics. I did not mind being in bed all the twenty four hours. Once the
medicines made me better, I began to feel bored and yearned to go back to
school. My mother was firm that I should strictly follow the doctor's advice.
No fried or oily food, only
porridge and milk. Medicines should be taken every three hours. The doctor
advised me to have some fruits. My mother was closely monitoring my
temperature. My parents insisted that I should stay in bed for most part of
the day.
